vegan. it’s a lifestyle, a lot like yoga!
So, you’re thinking about going vegan? Or maybe you’re just vegan-curious? Or you’d like to eat less meat and more plants? Maybe you’ve heard that eating a plant-based diet is a great way to shrink your carbon footprint (and possibly your waistline), conserve water, and positively shift climate change? Maybe you love animals, or you just want to feel more vibrant? Eating more plants is the way to go.
I adopted a vegan diet for all of the above reasons. As I studied yoga, and learned about Ahimsa (non-violence), Brahmacharya (conserving your energy), and Mindfulness, it became clear to me that I no longer needed (or wanted) to eat animals or animal products. I think that everyone CAN be a vegan or vegetarian, but I understand that not everyone WANTS to be. And that’s OK with me! This page isn’t here to convince you to do anything against your wishes, but perhaps I can entice you with some delicious recipes, fun facts, and cute animal photos.
cheryl’s green smoothie recipe
The best smoothie ever!
In a high speed blender, combine 1 green apple (core removed), 1/2 a lemon (peeled), 1/2 a lime (peeled), 1/4 a cucumber, a handful of kale, chard, romaine or whatever greens you have, 1/2 an avocado, and 1 serving of vegan protein powder, and enough water to your desired texture. Blend until really smooth.
raw vegan brownies
1 and 1/2 cups organic walnuts
Dash of sea salt
8 pitted medjool dates
1/3 cup raw cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp water (if dough seems too crumbly)
In a food processor, grind the walnuts and salt until fine. Add the dates until a dough forms, then continue to add the cacao, vanilla and water. Scoop out a tablespoon full of dough and roll into a ball, then pat down into a circular mini-brownie shape.

vegan white pizza
Cheese is often the hardest thing for someone to give up in order to go vegan. For me, pizza was one of the hardest foods to say “see ya” to, so we often make our own vegan pizzas at home. Pictured is a white pizza with homemade cashew “ricotta”, avocado (for creaminess), roma tomatoes, broccoli, onions, and cured black olives. It’s sprinkled with Daiya shreds for a little extra gooeyness.
