Ashaya Yoga philosophy has its roots in Kashmir Shaiva Tantra, and follows the teachings of Tantric scholars including Paul Muller-Ortega, Douglas Brooks, and Christopher Wallis. As part of the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, students study ancient texts such as the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, and Cheryl often refers to texts such as these during yoga classes. In each yoga class, Cheryl will not only lead you in moving your body, but will engage your mind with yogic concepts such as the Nava Rasas (9 emotions), the Kleshas (the obstacles to freedom), the Koshas (the layers of the Self), and more. Often, she will carry a topic throughout the month so that you gain a deeper understanding of the philosophy.
