Welcome 2021 with hope

Happy New Year!

I think we have all been looking forward to this day, when we can finally see 2020 in the rear view mirror. It’s been such an unusual year, full of turmoil, loss, uncertainty, and pain. It’s also been a year of innovation, creativity, and adaptability. It’s shown me how resilient I can be. It’s reminded me that I have a network of support, and that even in the darkness, there is still a glimmer of hope for brighter days.

As I’d been looking ahead to 2021 over the last few months, I had a lot of trepidation about making plans or setting goals. After all, we all had such high hopes for 2020- the year of clear vision- we hoped it was going to be the best year ever, etc.. and look how that turned out! But I realized I don’t want to stay stuck in a place of uncertainty and fear- I want to move forward with life. I want to say Yes to the future.

This is part of the idea of Radical Affirmation, one of the basic ideas behind Tantra and Ashaya Yoga. We say Yes to the present moment, just as it is. We say Yes to acknowledge the past- the good parts and the bad parts equally, since all our past experience has brought us to this moment. And we say Yes to the possibility of a brighter future. Without the hope of future happiness and success, I could get stuck in a “victim consciousness” where life is a series of events happening to me, rather than having a Victory Consciousness, where I affirm that everything that happens in life is an opportunity for my growth and awakening.

So, as we step across the threshold into this new year, I hold hope in my heart- hope for a beautiful year. And with that awareness, then I can engage and take action to make it happen to the best of my ability. I hope that you also look forward to all the joy, success, abundance, and love that is possible for you. I hope that your yoga and meditation practices support you in all your endeavors for 2021 and beyond.

With Love,

Cheryl
