Day 26: Still going strong (31 days without sugar)
And…. it finally happened! I got on the scale this morning, and found that I had lost a pound since I checked last week. I was wondering if I would lose any weight without the sugar, and hoping that I would. While I’m not technically “overweight,” I know I could shed a few pounds and feel more comfortable in my body and still be at a healthy weight.
I think I’ve pretty much managed/halted my sugar cravings. Yay!! I feel like I’ve settled in to a better way of eating. Fewer carbs all around. I will try to maintain this attitude even after the end of the month (although I will make some homemade bread for Easter.)
I had some green apple in my oatmeal this morning, and it tasted so sweet. Yum.
I feel good. This was my goal. I’m going strong, not feeling as fatigued as I did in February, and have had plenty of energy to teach, work, and get stuff done. Overall I feel my inflammation has improved, and I have less body pain. Woo hoo!
Interestingly, I had my first Covid vaccine this week. The vaccine is designed to send your body into an inflammatory immune response- and the morning after I had my shot, I woke up with stiff, painful fingers again. So I really think that my past sugar consumption had been really creating a lot of inflammation in my body. This morning, it was better again, ahhh.
So, I’m totally down with hanging in the no-sugar zone for the rest of the month, and probably beyond. Although, I will occasionally treat myself to a sweet coffee or dessert once April rolls around, no doubt. It will be interesting to see how I feel afterwards.
I hope you’re still going strong too. Hang in there, we are almost done with our challenge!
